According to Jonathan Demme's filmography at the internet movie database, there's a new Philadelphia documentary, entitled People Like Us: Making Philadelphia. In all likelihood, this means that a special edition DVD of Philadelphia is on the way.
(Update: this special edition is already available in Europe. It will be available in North America beginning November 2nd, 2004.)

January 2003
DVD File reports that The Truth About Charlie will be released on DVD, on April 1st. In spite of the film's poor box office performance, Universal will release a two-disc set with audio commentary by Jonathan Demme, a making-of featurette, deleted scenes, ROM extras, and Charade, in its entirety. The DVD will also feature a 2.35:1 transfer (enhanced for widescreen TVs), Dolby Digital, and DTS 5.1 surround tracks. Sound and transfer information for Charade has not been released yet.
(Update: this DVD is now available. It is comprised of a single two-sided disc, not two discs, as originally reported. Also, the Charade transfer is enhanced for widescreen TVs, unlike the earlier Criterion release of the film.)

September 2002
DVD File reports that George Armitage's directorial debut, Miami Blues (produced by Jonathan Demme), is coming to DVD on December 3rd, 2002.

September 2001
Covering Studio Day 2001, DVD File reports that a new Philadelphia DVD is in production.
(Update: in the Fall of 2002, Philadelphia was re-released on DVD with new menus and a new cover. In all other areas, this edition is the same as the original release.)
